The Dhivehi culture is marked by a blend of South Asian, Arab, and African influences. The Maldivian language, Dhivehi, is an Indo-Aryan language with a unique script called Thaana. Traditional music and dance, such as ""Boduberu"" (a drum-based performance), play a significant role in cultural celebrations. Fishing has been a traditional livelihood for centuries, along with coconut cultivation and boat building.
